The Company
Our client is a dynamic and growing F&B MNC changing the way retail branches are operated in Southeast Asia. They’re looking for sharp legal minds to join their team (reporting into a head of legal in Singapore) and play a pivotal role in their growth and expansion in Malaysia.
In this fast-paced environment, you’ll be a trusted advisor, ensuring the company navigates legal complexities with confidence. You’ll partner with key stakeholders across the business, providing clear and actionable guidance to safeguard our reputation and propel the business forward.
Their current office is in Sri Petaling but will be moving more centrally later in the year due to headcount expansion (operating on a hybrid working basis).
Responsibilities
- Legal Strategist: Advise on a wide range of legal matters, from commercial contracts to intellectual property, and champion proactive risk mitigation strategies.
- Contract Champion: Draft, review, and negotiate watertight agreements for all our business operations, ensuring we operate with clarity and confidence.
- Compliance Guardian: Maintain meticulous compliance with all relevant regulations, keeping us on top of industry standards and legal developments.
- Dispute Resolution Specialist: Navigate legal challenges effectively, whether through negotiation, litigation, or alternative dispute resolution methods.
- Business Acumen: Partner strategically with various departments, providing commercially-minded legal solutions that support our growth objectives.
Requirements
- Legal Expertise: Hold a Bachelor of Laws degree from a reputable university and possess 6-8 years of solid legal experience.
- Commercial Acumen: Thrive in a business-oriented environment, bringing a practical approach to legal issues and understanding how legal decisions impact the bottom line.
- Team Player: Collaborate effectively with diverse internal stakeholders, fostering a culture of open communication and problem-solving.
- Communication Master: Excel in written and verbal communication, crafting clear legal guidance and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including those in China HQ (conversational Mandarin will be very beneficial)
- Industry sector: Combination of private practice and in-house legal experience is preferred. F&B, retail, FMCG sector experience will be key!
