About the job
The client is a leading regional financial group with a growing international presence. They offer a comprehensive range of financial services to their extensive client base across B2B and B2C sectors with branches in Asia and Europe.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and Manage: Provide strategic direction and leadership to a team of talented legal professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performing legal department.
- Comprehensive Legal Expertise: Advise and support retail and corporate banking divisions on a broad spectrum of legal matters, including regulatory compliance, contracts, and risk management for the Singapore entity and overseas branches.
- Corporate Governance Champion: Oversee company secretarial functions, ensuring adherence to corporate governance best practices and maintaining accurate board and company records.
- Strategic Partner: Proactively partner with business units across retail and corporate banking, providing insightful legal counsel and mitigating risks to support business objectives.
- Develop and Execute Legal Strategy: Formulate and drive the effective execution of the legal strategy for Singapore, aligned with broad guidance from the C-level and Board of Directors
Requirements:
- Proven Leadership: Extensive experience leading and motivating a high-performing legal team within a complex financial services environment.
- Deep Legal Knowledge: Possess a strong understanding of financial regulations, corporate law, contracts, and relevant industry practices.
- Company Secretarial Expertise: Demonstrated experience in company secretarial duties, ensuring compliance with governance frameworks and regulatory requirements.
- Commercial Acumen: Strong business acumen with the ability to translate legal complexities into practical solutions while aligning with overall business strategies.
- Communication & Collaboration: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, fostering strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
- Teamwork & Mentorship: Collaborative leader with a commitment to fostering professional development within the legal team.
