Data Privacy/Commercial Counsel

The Company

Our client is renown international FMCG multinational entity with global remit. They have a regional legal function and paralegals/legal managers in their local markets/entities in the APAC region. The regional function covers work for distribution of products for markets where there is no entity presence. They are hiring for an additional legal headcount (qualified lawyer or non-qualified legal professional) for their regional legal function in Singapore. This is to bolster their regional legal support capabilities; the headcount is to either hire for additional commercial legal support (junior lawyers, senior paralegals or commercial contract negotiators can also apply) to support sales and marketing functions, or to provide specialist assistance in data protection/compliance/risk management.

Responsibilities:

Commercial legal support:

• Drafting and negotiation of commercial contracts for the Singapore market, including supply agreements, distribution agreements, supplier agreements, and project agreements.
• Supporting the senior counsel and Head of Legal in requests for review of advertising, marketing campaigns, packaging, promotion, as well as other commercial issues.
• Providing legal services and maintaining and coordinating contract administration
• Prepare, draft, negotiate and advise on all aspects of consumer/license/distributor/non-disclosure agreements
• Assist with contract drafting/vetting and negotiation across the various business units

Data privacy & compliance support:

• Monitoring regulatory requirements and changes, including competition law, anti-trust, anti-bribery and ethics, privacy law, and intellectual property for the APAC region
• Implementing policy changes across relevant APAC locations and ensure organization’s compliance to privacy laws and regulations
• Provide regulatory compliance advisory on data privacy regulations including applicable obligations on new business initiatives or change in processing activity for consumer data
• Provide business risk analysis and compliance for B2C products

Requirements:

• Degree in Law with at least 3 years of experience in in-house or private practice
• Relevant and transferrable experience in commercial legal work, data privacy and/or compliance/risk experience
• Paralegals and commercial contractors are welcome to apply
• FMCG industry experience is highly beneficial
• Be proactive and be a team-player; knowing what to prioritise first according to business priorities and to provide pro-active support to regional and local team members
