The Manager of IT Applications Risk & Control will play a pivotal role within the Information Technology Department, focusing on overseeing IT risk in the application domain across the APAC region. As an individual contributor reporting to the HOD – IT Development & Support, the role involves influencing application teams to enforce controls, manage risks, and ensure compliance within the technology landscape.
Responsibilities
- Oversee IT risk in the application domain, influencing application teams to maintain governance and enforce controls for risk management.
- Collaborate with IT Risk Management, internal auditors, and regulators to proactively assess and mitigate risks inherent in the application domain.
- Manage potential risks, develop contingency plans, and ensure standards are consistently met, influencing application teams for timely and budget-compliant risk mitigations.
- Organize a regional risk portfolio, prioritize risks based on impact and probability, and engage stakeholders to formulate and track actions.
- Hold teams accountable for mitigating actions, monitor the application landscape, and act as a gatekeeper for new technology or application adoption.
- Liaise with auditors, regulatory bodies, and IT risk teams during incidents for necessary remediation.
- Collaborate with branches for risk alignment, handle incidents related to risk aspects, and track end-of-life items in the application domain.
- Assess risks from new technology adoption, ensure staff training, and work closely with delivery leads to ensure comprehensive quality assurance in delivery.
Requirements
- Minimum 15 years’ experience in banking technology as a risk manager.
- Experience in a regional role overseeing multiple countries’ regulatory controls.
- Strong negotiation skills and ability to maintain an objective view of risks.
- In-depth understanding of technology and potential risks in regional applications and shared infrastructure.
- Experience in creating, implementing, and improving frameworks for issue identification and closure.
- Knowledge of the APAC regulatory landscape is advantageous.
- Proven ability to drive outcomes by influencing other teams.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills for updates to senior stakeholders and external parties.
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and adaptive to a fast-paced, evolving environment.
