About the Company:

We are representing a leading international logistics provider in search of a General Manager, Ocean Freight to join the team in Malaysia. This position leads the Ocean Freight division, overseeing end-to-end operations and commercial performance. The role focuses on driving sales growth, ensuring operational efficiency, and developing a high-performing team to deliver service excellence and profitability.

Role & Responsibilities:

• Lead the Ocean Freight division, managing import/export operations, documentation, and service delivery.
• Develop and implement sales strategies to achieve revenue, GP, and volume targets.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with shipping lines, agents, and key clients to secure capacity and competitive rates.
• Oversee freight procurement, carrier performance, and rate negotiations based on market trends.
• Drive team performance through coaching, KPI setting, and skills development.
• Monitor division profitability and ensure cost control, billing accuracy, and operational efficiency.

Key Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Business, Logistics, or related discipline.
• Minimum 8–10 years’ experience in sea freight forwarding with proven leadership in sales and operations.
• Strong understanding of ocean freight operations, carrier management, and international shipping regulations.
• Excellent communication skills in English. Ability to converse in Mandarin will be an advantage for liaising with Mandarin-speaking clients and partners.
• Demonstrated track record in developing new business and managing teams.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and data-driven reporting.
