General Manager, Air Freight (International Logistics Provider)

About the Company:

We are representing a leading international logistics provider in search of a General Manager, Air Freight to join the team in Malaysia. This position oversees the end-to-end air freight operations and commercial performance, driving sales growth, service excellence, and operational efficiency across Malaysia. The ideal candidate is a strong people leader with deep air freight knowledge and a proven track record in managing both commercial and operational functions.

Role & Responsibilities:

• Lead the overall Air Freight division, ensuring operational excellence across import/export processes, documentation, and customer service.
• Develop and execute sales strategies to achieve revenue, GP, and volume targets.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with airlines, consolidators, and key clients to secure capacity and competitive rates.
• Oversee freight procurement, carrier negotiations, and rate management in line with market trends.
• Drive team performance through coaching, KPI management, and training initiatives.
• Monitor financial performance, ensuring cost control, accurate billing, and profitability of the division.

Key Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Business, Logistics, or related field.
• Minimum 8–10 years of experience in air freight forwarding, with proven leadership in commercial and operational management.
• Strong understanding of IATA regulations, carrier management, and freight operations.
• Excellent communication skills in English. Ability to converse in Mandarin will be an advantage to liaise with Mandarin-speaking clients and partners.
• Demonstrated success in leading teams and developing new business opportunities.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and data-driven decision-making.
