Our client is a subsidiary of a multinational corporate, a leading force in the rapidly expanding healthcare sector but derives its goods from manufacturing (boasting revenues of more than RM 3 billion). A wholly-owned subsidiary of a multinational giant with revenues surpassing RM 75 billion, the organization spans multiple sites, including production facilities in North Malaysia, a Sales/HQ office in KL, and sterilization services in Sepang, Selangor.
Responsibilities
- Offer legal counsel on diverse matters: contracts, vendor management, customer agreements, employment issues, land matters, M&A, due diligence, data protection, IP matters, NDAs, and tenancy agreements.
- Provide expert guidance, draft, review, and negotiate contracts, encompassing property leases, product and service supply, material purchase, agent/trade representative appointments, and power of attorneys.
- Directly report to the CEO, collaborating with front and middle office functions, and oversee 1 legal assistant.
- Internally collaborate, delivering legal support through training and updates on laws, regulations, and internal policies.
- Engage with external parties, including regulators, external counsel, and clients.
- Achieve legal objectives, manage disputes, and oversee international/domestic matters and arbitration.
- Establish a repository of legal documents, managing renewals, compliance, and performance mapping.
- Ensure compliance with legislation (e.g., OSHA, Factories & Machinery Act, Environmental Quality Act, Employment Act), staying current on relevant local and regional laws.
- Work from KL Sales/HQ office (Mon-Fri) with occasional travel to North Malaysia production sites.
Requirements
- Hold an LL.B from a reputable university; and be Malaysia bar qualified (preferably).
- Bring a minimum of 15 years of post-qualification experience, including a substantial period (at least 5 years) in private practice.
- Exhibit strong spoken, written, and presentation skills as basic training and powerpoint presentation skills will be required.
- Demonstrate exceptional analytical, reasoning, and problem-solving skills.
- Showcase outstanding leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills suitable for a complex multi-cultural organization.
- Navigate conflicting corporate objectives constructively, demonstrating resilience in handling unexpected setbacks.
- Possess a keen attention to detail, intellectual curiosity, and an ability to analyze complex business issues at a fundamental level.
- Show willingness to be hands-on, with a proven track record in the manufacturing industry sector.
