A well-established global leader in the retail/consumer goods sector is seeking a proactive Legal Manager/Counsel to join its dynamic and multinational team in Singapore. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to grow within a supportive environment that reports directly into the general counsel.
Responsibilities
- Support the general counsel in daily operations, working closely with departments such as sales, marketing, and operations.
- Manage and roll out legal and compliance training across regional hub offices, with a focus on commercial, purchasing, and regulatory matters.
- Draft, review, and coordinate contracts, ensuring compliance with legal standards and company policies.
- Assist in the development of internal control initiatives and anticipate legal and reputational risks, especially around data protection.
- Facilitate cross-functional projects, ensuring that processes meet legal and compliance standards.
- Collaborate with regional and global teams, helping to create and implement efficient ways of working.
- Play a key role in the legal aspects of business partnering, especially within the context of the China market.
Requirements
- Ideally at least 3 years of relevant legal experience (law degree and above). No requirement to be a qualified lawyer. Paralegals and commercial contracts negotiators are welcome.
- Proficiency in Mandarin Chinese (written and spoken) is a must to assist with China market-related legal matters and staff training.
- Prior experience working in-house or in private practice, with a demonstrated ability to manage stakeholders and operate independently within a small team.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to juggle multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- A business-oriented mindset, with a willingness to learn about global consumer trends, digital platforms, and regional legal challenges.
- Willingness to travel occasionally within the region, particularly to China.
